The Veenhuizermolen was built in the second half of the 17th century, to manage toe 350 hectare United Raaksmaats and Niedorperkoggeboezem Polder. The mill was decommissioned in 1934 when an electric pumping station was built to take over husbandry of the polder. The mill stood idle for several decades before it was finally restored in 1971. Today, it used as a drainage mill for the nearby polders. The mill is owned by the Hollands Noorderkwartier company.
