The Varnebroekermolen was built in the middle of the 19th century to serve the 85 hectare Maalwater Polder. The mill is located in the middle of a large open pasture, and offers some very picturesque views. The Varnebroekermolen was bought by the town of Heiloo in 1972, and briefly dismantled to allow for some major restoration work. The restoration was completed in 1977, and since then the mill has been ran on a regular basis.
