The Scheiwijksemolen is a 17th century water mill located on Lage Giessen in the town of Hornet. The mill was built in 1638, as one of the mills that would serve ’The Land of the Six Mills’ polder. The mill was bought by the Foundation for the Conservation of Mills in the Alblasserwaard and Vijfheerenlanden after it was decommissioned in 1974. The mill was restored in 1991, and the restoration costs were paid for by the government through a special scheme for the protection of water mills.
