The Poppentheater Hilvert’s Hofje is a small puppet theatre located in the basement of the Hivertshof shopping center in the town of Hilversum. A Hofje is a group of almshouses, usually surrounding a circular courtyard. The first Hofjes were set up in the Middle Ages, and while some of them are still in use, others have been closed and the buildings are now used for other purposes. The Poppentheater has performances three times a week, with special seasonal productions in the winter.
