The Miedenmolen

The Miedenmolen was built in 1855 to serve the Dwergsmear Polder. In 1953, the Holwerd Water Board converted the mill to use a mechanized pump, and in 1961, an electric motor was also installed. The Miedenmolen was bought by the Fryske Mill Foundation in 1976, and was restored in 1994. The mill is in good condition, and is open to the public. Tours of the Miedenmolen can be arranged upon request.
