The Landhuis is an old country villa located on Staten Bolwerk in Haarlem. It was constructed in the 1860s, and underwent extensive renovation and restoration in 1980. The Landhuis is a national monument, and is accessible for disabled people. It is an interesting example of Dutch architecture from the mid 19th century. Houses similar to this were a common site in the 1800s, as many wealthy city-dwelling families would head to more rural areas during the summer to escape diseases spread through polluted canal water.
