The Heidebloom was built in 1897, to replace another mill that had burnt down under suspicious circumstances. The Heidebloom suffered heavy damage during World War Two, and was decommissioned after the war. The mill stood idle until 1976, when restoration work began. The restoration project took almost two years, and the mill re-opened in 1978. Today, the mill is used as a training facility for student millers. The Heidebloom is open to the public every Saturday morning.
