The Haensmole

The Haensmole is an historic water mill located on Hoek Pikmeer Prinses Margrietkanal in the town of Grou. The mill was built in the 18th century, and was in active use until 1941. The Haensmole now belongs to the Province of Friesland. A bizarre accident involving a canal boat in January 2004 caused serious damage to the mill. Since the accident, the mill has been idle, and it will remain so until repair work can be carried out.
