The Gans Mill was built in 1850 by Martinus Aukes Wierder, to serve the Ganzenpolder. In 1962, when the waterboards merged, and new electric pumps were built to take over the duties of the old mills, The Gans Mill was shut down. A few years later the town of Ezumazjil bought the mill, and in 1970 it was restored to working order by the Dongeradeel Monument Foundation. Further restoration work was carried out in 1988, and today the mill can regularly be seen in operation.
