The Boezemvriend Polder Mill was built in 1871 by P. Medendorp, to replace an older mill that had previously been responsible for draining the Zuidlaren polders. The mill was in active use until 1934, when an electric pump took over its duties. Over the next few years the condition of the mil decayed. Restoration work began in 1962, and further work was done in 1990. Today, the mill is in working order, and is open to the public, although it is best to call to confirm opening times before visiting.
