The Adriaan Mill was originally built in 1779, but was destroyed in a fire in 1932. At the time, the Dutch Mill Association were unable to fund the rebuilding of the mill. In 1998, Mr r. van de Waal set up a foundation to rebuild the mill. The new mill was opened on April 23rd, 2002. The mill contains a small tourist’s office, and information centre with educational displays about windmills, and the history of Haarlem.
