The Stel’s Molen is a traditional corn mill in the town of Harkstede. The mill was built in 1851 for J. G. Tipkers. In 1856, Kipkers had the mill converted to handle other kinds of grain, and in 1961 the mill was converted to a ’stellingmolen’ by R. J. Kortholt. A stellingmolen is a taller variety of windmill, with high sails, and a walkway around the middle of the mill that allows the miller to safely reach the sails. Today, the Stel’s Molen is ran by J. B. Janssens and M. Biesheuvel. Tours of the mill are available by appointment.
