The Stadhuis, or City Hall in Franeker is made up of two sections – one built between 1591 and 1595, and the second build in 1760. The city hall is a shining example of the wealth of Franeker during the 16th and 17th century. The oldest of the buildings was in full time use until 1997. It is now open to the public on afternoons, and is worth seeing for the unique leather wallpaper covered with gold leaves.
