The Stadhuis, or Town Hall in Groningen is located in the centre of town on the Grote Markt. It was constrcted in 1810, and is decorated in a traditional Groningen style, with a shell motif above the windows, and an elegant, neo-classical design. At the rear of the original part of the building is a more modern extension, which was constructed in 1962 and was designed to blend in well with the original building.
