The Stadhuis in Gouda is located in the middle of the town’s main Markt. It is a large, elegant Gothic structure, with spiked towers and quaint dormer windows. The building was constructed in 1450, and features a number of statues of old Burgandy counts and countesses. There is a small carillon which chimes every half hour. The town hall is still used for council meetings, and visitors can see the council chamber, which is a strange blend of antique furniture and modern equipment.
