The Stadhuis, or Town Hall in Edam dates back to 1737. It is a stern Louis XIV style building, with a small tower, and a plain, symmetrical design. The building now houses the VVV (Tourist office). Upstairs is a small section of the Edam Museum, which holds some old paintings, including a portrait of a local girl, Trijntje Kever, who lived from 1616 to 1635, and grew to be over 9 feet (2 and a half metres) tall.
