The St Nicolaaskerk in Elburg is a fourteenth century church which maintains a large and imposing presence, dominating the village landscape, even though it is now missing its spire, which was destroyed by lightning in 1693. The church has a number of interesting wall paintings, and two organs, the largest and oldest of which dates back to 1825. Although the spire has been destroyed, a small tower still remains, and is open to visitors during the summer months.
