The Rooi Wip is a small ’wipmloen’ located on Gemeneweg in the village of Hazerswoude-Dorp. The mill was built in 1639 to serve the Gemenewegse Polder. The wipmolen is the oldest type of windmill in the Netherlands, and the Rooie Wip mill is of exceptional historic value. In 1990, the Rooie Wip Mill Foundation was set up to restore and maintain the mill. The Rooi Wip mill is open to the public, and tours of the mill can be arranged upon request.
