The Oelemolle is a historic ’standaardmolen’ in the town of Hardenberg. The original mill was built in 1533. Standaardmolens are the smallest form of Dutch windmill, and were used as corn mills, with corn lifted into the mill via a lift-hook at the back of the mill. The Oelemolle was sold to a private owner in 1852, and in the early 20th century the mill was idle and went into decline. In 1965 the town bought the mill, and restored it. The mill is open to visitors twice a week, with tours available by appointment.
