The Museum Het Catharina Gasthuis is housed in a 1665 mansion near Sint Janskerk, which formerly used as a hospital. The Museum houses an interesting collection of items relevant to the history of Guoda, including a plaque with a Latin inscription which says that Erasmus may have been born in Rotterdam, but he was conceived in Gouda. Other items of note include a gold chalice presented to the Society of Archers by countess Jacqueline of Bavaria.
