The Molen van de Zuiderpolder was built in 1670 to manage the 737 hectare Zuiderpolder. Since the mill was built, the polder has been reduced to 590 hectares. In 1875 a steam pump was built to serve as a backup to the mills, and in 1949 the steam pump was improved, and took over husbandry of the polder full time, so the mill was decommissioned. The Molen van de Zuiderpolder was restored in 1995, and is open to the public.
