The Mauritshuis was once the residence of The Head of State, Frederik Hendrik’s nephew, Count Johan Maurits van Nassau. The building is a 17th century mansion, and is now the home of the Koninklijk Kabinet van Schilderijen (Royal Cabinet of Paintings). The collection consists of 800 paintings, 50 miniatures, 20 sculptures, and a selection of drawings and prints. Famous Dutch and Flemish artists such as Rembrandt, Vermeer, Rubens and Holbein are all featured in the collection.
