Luthers Hofje is an almshouse located on Witte Herenstraat in Haarlem. It was founded by the Lutherian church in 1615, as a place for elderly Lutherian women to live. The almshouse is still in use today, and the directors are still appointed by the church. Almshouses such as this one were once commonplace – some ran by the church, others by kind and wealthy nobles, but there are very few of them still in operation.
