The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision was established in 1997, after the merger of the Broadcast Museum, and three of the main audiovisual archves. The institute holds a large collection of radio and television programmes, commercials, documentaries, photographs, and amateur films. The archives span from the earliest days of cinema to current news broadcasts, and offer almost one million hours worth of media for viewing and listening.
