The ’Brug van het acces Hoofdweg-Westzijde over het Voorkanaal’ is a listed monument located in Hoofdweg. The bridge is a part of the defence line constructed in the late 19th century to protect Amsterdam. The defence line replaced an older set of fortifications which were found to be no longer useful as long range artillery became more common. The defence line was used to flood strategic points, preventing both vehicles, and soldiers, from being able to cross the land.
