The Hoofdtoren (or, Main Tower) is a defensive watchtower which is located at the end of Veermanskade. It is a tall, solid brick structure, which was constructed in 1532. The base of the tower features a bronze sculpture which was constructed in 1968 by Jan van Druten. The sculpture is entitled “Three Ships’ Boys”. The tower is probably one of the most photographed buildings in the entire town. Inside the tower is a restaurant which serves a variety of fish dishes.
