The Historisch Museum Zuid-Kennemerland is housed in a building which used to be a women’s almshouse. It traces the history of the Haarlem and the surrounding area. There are some interesting items on display, including the ’Stadrechten’ (city rights), some examples of early printing presses dating back to the 17th century, and some interactive exhibits such as touch-screen computers which tell stories about events important to the history of the city. There is a small exhibition related to modern Dutch architecture in a separate part of the museum.
