Hernense Mill

The Hernense Mill was built in 1745, it is a round-stones belt mill, and is currently owned by the Gelders Landscape Foundation. The mill was originally owned by Jacobus Ferdinandusse Antonius Steenhuyse, the then owner of the Hernen castle. In the later half of the 19th century the castle was downated to the Foundation Friends of the Gelderse Castles. They transferred the mill to the Landscape Foundation in 1975, who restored the mill and currently maintain it, and keep it open to the public.
