The Hannemahuis Museum on Voorstraat in Harlingen is located in an eighteenth-century merchant’s house. The museum is devoted to the history of the town and features a variety of displays, including one focussing on the old shipping industry, which played a huge part in the town’s prosperity during the 17th and 18th centuries. Other displays include locally made silver, porcelain and tiles, along with an assortment of model ships and old paintings of the town.
