The Haarlem Historical Museum gives an interesting overview of the history of the town and its surrounding area. One of the most interesting parts of the museum is an audio-visual presentation where Laurens Jansz-Coster recounts the ’Story of Haarlem’ – highlighting the siege of the town in 1572, the great fire a few years later, the building of the almshouses, and the first Amsterdam – Haarlem train journey in 1839.
