The Great Chruch, or “Grote Kerk” in Hindeloopen is situated just across from the Hidde Nijland Museum on Dijkweg, in the north west corner of the city. Hindeloopen is a small fishing town with a long history. The town was an independent municipality until 1984. The church is one of the oldest complete buildings in the city, dating back to 1632. The Grote Kerk is a Dutch Reformed Church, and is still open today.
