The Gerenmolen is an historic wipmolen located on the outskirts of the village of Hazerswoude. The mill was built in 1636 to serve the 270 hectare Oost-en-Westgeer polder. The was decommissioned in 1957. the Rhineland Mill Foundation bought the Gerenmolen in 1974, and began some major restoration work in 1976. The wipmolen is the oldest design of mill in the Netherlands. The Gerenmolen is currently idle, and is in need of more restoration work.
