The Frans Hals Museum is housed in a 17th century Flemish house, designed by Ghent architect Lieven de Key. The museum houses works by Frans Hals, and other Masters of the Haarlem school of painting. The most famous paintings by Hals are ’The Laughing Cavalier’, and ’The Gypsy Girl’ – neither of these are in the museum, however, many of his van Gogh inspired portrait works are on display. Other items in the collection include a dollhouse dating back to 1750, and a selection of antique silver, porcelain, and clocks.
