The Fraeylemaborg in Slochteren dates back to the middle ages, and is situated in a country-park which is a more modern creation, designed in an English style by G.A. Blum and L.P. Roodbaard. The ’scathuis’ has been converted to a restaurant, and the coach-house serves as a galley. Behind the galley is an orangerie which houses an assortment of tropical plants. The main building is now a museum, displaying a collection of Asian porcelain and an exhibit focusing on the Dutch royal house of Oranje-Nassau.
