The Break, or ’De Breek’ is a large area of land, rich in clay, that was reclaimed from the sea after a wealthy member of the Brederode family ordered the building of a dike in the early 17th century. Today, De Breek is a beautiful nature area with a range of outdoor activities going on all year round, including festivals, markets, traditional craft fairs, nature walks, and lectures. There is a restaurant located on the site that offers a range of locally produced foods.
