An annexe of the Edam Museum is located on the top floor of Raadhuis (Town Hall). The building dates back to 1737, and is also home to the Edam tourist office. The main part of the museum is located on Dam Square, in Edam’s oldest stone house, which was constructed in the 16th century. The building has a floating cellar, supposedly built for the original owner, a sailor who did not wish to sleep on dry land.
