The Easterwierrum Windmill is a relatively modern polder mill. It was built in 1920 to an American design known as the ’Hercules Wind Engine’. There are very few of mills of this type still in use today. The Easterwierrum Windmill was dismantled for restoration work in the year 2000, and was put back into use in 2007. The mill is not currently open to the public, however it is still worth viewing, because of its unique U.S. design.
