The Onderlinge Van 1719 is of cultural interest as it is the oldest independent life insurance firm in the Netherlands. The fund was founded on February 12, 1719, and has the motto ’In Alles Ghetrou’ – meaining ’Faithful in everything’. The company used to occupy Korte Begijnestraat 16, but they had an argument with the neighbour. They solved the mutual problem by buying the neighbour’s property, and demolishing it to create a new building, which they still occupy today.
