The De Hoop mill in Hellevoetsluis is a working corn mill that was built in the ’stellingmolen’ style. It was built in 1801, to replace an older ’standerdmolen’ that had been there since 1697. A ’stellingmolen’ is a tall mill, with high sails, and a walkway around the middle of the mill to allow the miller to reach the sails. The mill was restored in 1993, and is open to visitors each weekend during the summer. Appointments can be made if you wish to visit the mill at other times of the year.
