The Binnenhof and Ridderzaal, or, Inner Court and Hall of the Knights in The Hague are the official offices of the Dutch Parliament and the offices of the Prime Minister. The first fortress was raised on this site by William II, then Count of Holland. The Ridderzaal was originally a banqueting hall for Count William’s son, Floris V, and dates back to the thirteenth century. The building is now used for state occasions, but there are regular guided tours leaving from the town’s information centre.
