The Zeldenrust Mill was built in 1862 to replace the Dreipijpstermolen, which had been destroyed in a fire the previous year. The mill was sold to the Dokkum Tourist Office in 1966, when the last miller had to close his business because of competition from mechanized mills. The Zeldenrust mill was restored to working order in 1999, and is now open to the public. Tours of the Zeldenrust mill can be arranged by appointment only.
