The Willet-Holthuysen Museum is one of the few patrician houses open to the public. The canal house and its contents were donated to the city of Amsterdam by the widow Sandrina Louisa Willet-Holthuysen in 1895. The 17th century canal house is now under the management of the Amsterdam Historisch Museum, and is open for visitors to view as a snapshot of the 18th century, from master and servant quarters, to a fully furnished kitchen, bedroom and ballroom.
