The Sexmuseum, also known as the Venustemple, is a collection of sensual and erotic items from throughout history. It opened in 1985, and is housed in a 17th century building on the Damrak. The collection started with a handful of 19th century items, but has grown over time to cover sex throughout the ages. The items tend to be more tasteful and academic than those in the Erotic Museum, but still give an interesting insight into how erotica was viewed in different periods.
