The Simon van Gijn museum is dedicated to the former banker of the same name. The museum is located in the house where van Gijn lived from 1864 until his death in 1922. Van Gijn left the house, and most of his private collection, to the Old Dordrechht Society. The house has been preserved as well as possible, with interior decoration dating back as far as the 17th century. His collection includes a number of fine art and craft items, drawings, prints, and children’s toys.
