The Wijmarse Water Mill was built during the 17th centuy as a water powered corn and oil mill mill. The mill was rebuilt in 1881, and the oil mill was removed. The Wijmarse Water Mill was originally a part of the estate of the Arcen Castle. It was closed down at the end of the First World War, and fell into a state of decay. In 1978, The Limburgs Landscape Foundation, who own the mill and the castle, began a restoration project. Today, the mill is in working order, and is open to the public.
