The Waag Society was founded in 1994 as the ’Society for Old and New Media’. They are based in the Waag Building, which was build in 1488 and originally named the Gate of St. Anthony. The goal of the Waag Society is to research new media technologies, and bring them to a wider audience including those who do not have easy access to the internet. The Waag Building serves as a restaurant, an R&D centre, and a venue for workshops and exhibitions.
