The Sluismolen was built in the 16th century to serve the 180 hectare Sluispolder. The mill was in active use until 1926, when an electric pump took over the husbandry of the polder. In 1944, reliability problems with the pump led to the mill being re-opened. In September 2001 the Sluimolen was severely damaged by a fire. It was rebuilt in December 2002, with the interior replicated as close as possible to the original. Tours of the mill are available by appointment only.
