The Otter Mill was built in 1631 by the Houtzaagmolen Company of Amsterdam. The mill was decommissioned in the 19th century, because urban sprawl had destroyed the rural environment, and made the wind profile of the mill too poor for it to run regularly. The mill was restored in 1994, and is now ran on a voluntary basis. The current owner of the mill has petitioned the state for permission to move the mill to a better location.
