The Hiemertermole is an historic polder mill. It was built in 1811 to serve the 385 hectare Hemerterpolder. The mill was upgraded in 1957 with a diesel engine. In 1969, the mill was decommissioned, and stood idle until 1979 when the mill was restored and the diesel engine was removed. The Hiemertermole is now owned by the Fryske Mill Foundation. The mill is now open to the public, and tours can be arranged upon request.
