The Hegeman Mill in Dijkerhoek was commissioned by the widow of Hendrik Jan Klein Baltink in 1890. According to some reports, instead of building an entirely new mill, parts were taken from another mill that had been built in 1730. The mill was sold to a cooperative in 1927, and by 1948 it was in need of major repair work. Attempts were made to restore the mill, but the work proved prohibitively expensive. The mill was sold to the county, and is now ran on a voluntary basis. The mill is open to visitors during the summer months.
